Thomson Financial won the contract in a competitive pitch against Reuters - it's third such win in two months - but specific terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Thomson One Analytics is a real-time analytical workflow system for institutional investors that allows users to monitor markets, portfolios and securities. The system also features an Excel add-in.

Charles Hornung, head of IT, New Star Asset Management, says: "We wanted our senior fund mangers to access substantial research capabilities through one global platform, at the same time simplifying our process by aggregating our internal and external research."

The application complements a scalable workflow system that Thomson Financial provided for New Star Asset Management in June 2002 which utilises the vendor's Dataworks Enterprise technology to allow users to access, cache, integrate and distribute data from various content sets through a single common API.
