Ok it seems unlikely to an old cynic like me. I've not been a huge fan of the Safari browser but I'm willing to give it another go.
Apple have released a new version for Mac and Windows.
According to their blurb - Safari loads web pages 1.9 times faster than IE 7 and 1.7 times faster than Firefox. Very precise figures. Worth a look - if you're in a desperate hurry to load web pages. I've just tried it - it's a bit weird - the browser furniture looks all Mac-like but it does seem fast. I also quite like the way it handles RSS feeds as well. It's also shown up a few slight issues with our stylesheet that I'll have to fix. That'll teach me.
