Thomson Financial is the first Independent Software Vendor (ISV) to offer a direct network connection to the screen-based exchange.

Antoinette Hunziker-Ebneter, virt-x CEO comments: "The announcement of this first network connection to virt-x is another significant step as it makes the market more accessible to small and medium sized banks and institutions."

She says that this extension of connectivity will help the exchange meet its first year target of 10% market share of European blue chip trading.

Based in London, virt-x was created in February 2001 through collaboration between Tradepoint Financial Networks and SWX Swiss Exchange.
