Unisys has launched a bank-centric electronic bill presentment and payment (EBPP) solution.
Unisys e-@ction Electronic Bill Presentment and Payment Solution is designed to consolidate bills or statements from major billers and utilities and present them to consumers through their preferred banking Web sites. Customers can review their billing information online, request more details, or initiate payments via the bank's existing electronic payment mechanism.
Unisys says the solution give banks the opportunity to leverage and promote existing branded online payment services to customers in preference to cheque and cash payments.
Electronic bill presentment and payment is already an area of huge growth. Industry analyst Gartner Group predicts that the EBPP market will rocket from $4bn in 2000 to $19bn in 2005, and Datamonitor reports that CEOs from Europe's major 200 banks are making EBPP a top priority.
