Chase launches online bill payment service

Chase Manhattan Bank has launched the Chase Bill Management Center, a suite of electronic bill presentment and payment (EBPP) services. The bank's 20 million-plus consumer credit card customers can now pay all bills online from any checking account.

Metavante Corporation is acting as the application service provider, handling payment processing, electronic and paper bill presentment. It hosts the bill management portion of the Chase Web site.

The Chase Bill Management Center allows Chase credit card customers to choose the online service that best fits their needs and comfort level. Pay Chase Only is a free service which enables customers to pay their Chase credit card bill online from any checking account. Chase Payments extends the online service to pay anyone - person or company - in the US. Customers can pay 12 bills a month for a monthly charge of $4.95.

Chase Bill Management offers customers the ability to receive, view and pay all of their bills - paper and electronic - online. Customers receive e-mail alerts when bills arrive, are due, and are paid. Additionally, customers can access their bills and payment history online for up to 12 months, as well as receive a free CD-Rom with a year-end summary of all of their bill information and payment transactions. Customers can pay up to 20 bills a month for a charge of $9.95 a month.
