PKO Bank Polski extends Base24 implementation to cover mobile top-ups

Poland's PKO Bank Polski (PKO BP) is extending its implementation of ACI Worldwide's Base24 electronic payments software to manage the online authorisation of mobile top-up payments at its ATMs.

The bank will implement Insession Technologies' WebGate system, which will interface Base24 to local telecoms operators, in order to add mobile top-up facilities to its cash machine network. WebGate provides the interface between both parties using HTTP and XML to facilitate requests and transfer information.

Marek Schmidt, director of IT systems for card operations, PKO BP, says: "Working with ACI Worldwide, we now have the capability to offer mobile top up to our customers through the trusted ATM channel and will work closely with ACI to investigate additional ATM payment services."

In addition, the bank is deploying ACI's Transaction Security Services (TSS)module to to help prepare its ATM network for Triple DES compliance. The vendor says TSS is designed to manage all cryptographic functions such as PIN verification and chip authentication.

PKO BP also plans to automate and centralise the distribution of ATM secure numeric keys using ACI's Automated Key Distribution System (AKDS). By introducing an electronic method of managing and distributing keys, ACI says banks can centralise this process to improve operational efficiency, reduce risks and cut costs.
