The European Commission has sent a letter to the Chair of the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) revising its request for technical advice on the equivalence between certain third country legal and supervisory frameworks and the European Market Infrastructure Regulation (EMIR). The Commission has revised the deadline for ESMA’s advice on the US and Japanese regimes to 1 September 2013 as opposed to 15 June. For all other countries the deadline has been set at 1 October 2013.
