Internet scamsters are breaking new boundaries. Now they are offering compensation for victims of Internet Fraud! As I have always held - the scamsters are far ahead of the pack in creativity. To make you feel even better; the compensation comes from no less than the UN General Secretary!

Check out this email that landed in my inbox:

"The UNITED NATIONS has agreed to compensate all the people that had an
unfinished transaction or international Fund transfer that failed due to
Government problem or those that have been Fruaded in the Internet by

found your name in our list as one of the beneficiary and that is why we
are contacting you through this medium. This have been agreed upon and
have been signed.
You are advised now to contact Dr Davies Klasnick of
Intercontinental Bank Plc via his Email  Address;
  For the immediate delivery of your Draft to you provide the information below.

As compensation is subjective when applied to non-financial losses, it is hard to set a value until the loss can be quantified. There actually needs to be an internationally agreed authorative 'tariff' for the value of identity theft/abuse. This should include loss of personal data from an act of negligence etc.
