Merrill to sell Bloomberg stake for $4.4 billion
Merrill Lynch has agreed a deal to sell its 20% stake in Bloomberg back to the news and financial data company for a price approaching $4.5 billion.
Rumour has it that now that there are a few extra empty desks in the City (and Wall Street) many of them are hosting very expensive, and idle, Bloomberg terminals.
The scramble to consolidate and save money (and find those redundant serial numbers) is now on.
Reuters was sold for £9 billion. When will $20 billion start looking like silly money?
