3 leading UK fintechs are hiring for remote roles

Remote working is the great debate that doesn’t look like it’s to be getting resolved anytime soon.

Recent data compiled by the Office of National Statistics (ONS) found that 84% of workers plan on carrying out a mix of working at home and working in the office post-pandemic.

Separate data from RingCentral established that 60% of UK workers would rather add an extra three years on to their career in order to work remotely or in a hybrid environment over working in the office full-time for the rest of their career.

A new report has found that only 34% of Brits spend four days or more in the workplace compared to 50% of worldwide workers.

Why are so many employers insisting that workers come back to the office?

Proximity bias and a lack of effective communication channels is one element—85% of leaders have admitted that they find it a struggle to have confidence that employees are being productive.

Similarly, separate data shows that 95% of executives are more aware of the input made by team members working in the office.

Remote work still on the table

The good news for those working within fintech is that remote work is still on the table within many organisations. If you’re looking for workplace location flexibility and your current company is insisting you return to the office, a new job in a company that not only facilitates but fosters remote work could be the answer.

If that is the case, below we have detailed three such companies that are recruiting right now. You can check out many more on the Finextra Job Board.

Ripple

Ripple has a flexible-first approach to remote work and staff have the option to work remotely, in office, or a combination of the two. “We come together for moments that matter which include team off-sites, team bonding activities, happy hours and more,” reads the company website.

Ripple is currently hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join the team building trading and liquidity infrastructure and deliver reliable, low-latency (micro)services to manage trading and execution to deliver best-in-class liquidity to customers.

Or if your background is in financial risk, it is also seeking a Financial Risk Analyst who will play a critical role in identifying, quantifying, and mitigating the financial risks present across Ripple's business lines.

Revolut

Revolut permits its 2,000-plus employees to work from home, its London office, or a combination of the two. Since 2021, the company also allows employees to work abroad in another pre-approved country for up to 60 days per year.

“As we are eliminating frontiers within financial services, it made sense to align our internal policy with our product mission. Our employees asked for flexibility and that’s what we are giving them as part of our ongoing focus on employee experience and choice,” Jim MacDougall, VP of People at Revolut shared on the company’s blog.

If you have a background in AML and KYC, this FinCrime Subject Matter Expert (AML Advisory) role could be the perfect fit. It involves working with product teams to perform financial crime risk assessments, transaction monitoring, sanctions and fraud.

Alternatively, this Market Risk Manager position will suit candidates with a background in data who has a broad understanding of global financial markets.

Cleo

Cleo takes a flexible approach to work location and says: “Work where you work best. We are a globally distributed team. If you live in London we have a hybrid approach, we'd love you to spend one day a week or more in our beautiful office. If you're outside of London, we'll encourage you to spend a couple of days with us a few times per year.”

If this sounds like the kind of company you would like to work for, Cleo is hiring a Senior Ruby Engineer to join a cross-functional product squad with a mix of backend engineers, data analysts, frontend engineers, user researchers, designers, UX writers, and others to develop features that improve users' financial health.

Or if data science is more aligned to your skills and experience, it is also seeking a Data Scientist - Chat Advisor to join a team of data scientists, ML engineers, and analysts to build and deploy production models that developers will feed directly into the product.
