Online banking saves two hours a week, says Barclays

New research from Barclays Bank shows UK consumers are saving up to two hours a week by conducting their financial affairs online.

Independent market research firm SurveyShop conducted 512 interviews with consumers across the UK, on behalf of the bank.

Eighty-nine per cent of men and 79 per cent of women estimate e-banking saves them up to two hours a week.

When banking online both sexes say checking their bank balance saves them most time (36 per cent for men and 26 per cent for women). Twenty-six per cent of women say they like banking online as they don’t have to visit a branch.

Simon Newman, e-channels director, Barclays, says: “It's great that people feel the Internet can help with their busy lives and give them more time to do what they want. The arrival of broadband will also help speed up their online access."
