Manchisi succeeds Rob Reeg who was named president, global technology and operations (GTO) last month after holding the position on a temporary basis since January.

Manchisi is now in charge of computer infrastructure and operations, network engineering, customer support, processing systems and service definition and customer technology relationship management.

He has been with MasterCard for 21 years, most recently as group executive, strategic account management, overseeing GTO partnerships with the company's customers and internal business partners.

Manchisi has also held senior positions in MasterCard corporate and regional finance, customer service and computer and network services.

Commenting on Manchisi's appointment, Reeg says: "He has extensive knowledge of the financial services and payments industry as well as an understanding of the critical importance of technology in driving our business."

Based near St Louis, MasterCard GTO manages operations in 210 countries and territories, including major processing centres in Brussels, Sydney and Chennai.
