Eccleston to head up Pivot Solutions

Lou Eccleston, formerly of Bloomberg and Thomson Financial, has resurfaced as chairman and chief executive officer of Pivot Solutions, operator of the IMtrader buy-side network.

Eccleston brings extensive management experience to Pivot Solutions, He spent his early career as as a managing director with Bloomberg, before decamping to Thomson Financial. As president of the banking and brokerage division, he led the development and launch of Thomson ONE. He then took up the mantle of president of global sales, marketing and services for Thomson Financial, before disappearing from view following a corporate restructuring last year.

Pivot Solutions’ IMtrader integrates instant messaging, information management, research and trading technology for institutional investment professionals. The IMtrader network currently claims more than 2,000 members, including over 350 buy-side firms that have traded more than three and a half billion shares.

Based in both Boston and New York City, the five-year old company is backed by Eze Castle Integration and VCs Softbank Capital, Draper Fisher Jurveston Gotham Ventures and Hudson Ventures.

Sean McLaughlin, a Pivot board director says of the appointment: "IMtrader is a big idea with massive potential for portfolio managers and traders; Lou is the right man for the job."
