Dewey has been appointed head of customer acquisition of the division, which is responsible for developing and executing Barclays retail e-commerce strategy. She is charged with strengthening Barclays customer base by recruiting new customers and increasing online activity amongst existing customers, says the bank.

Morgan is to head up the business development function at eWorld with a brief to develop and execute online alliances with complementary third party organisations.

Barclays is predicting that it will have 2.5 million online banking customers by the end of 2001, up from the current 1.7 million.
