US bank Wachovia has notified 3000 of its US technology staff that it intends to outsource tech work to one of three offshore factories in India.

Wachovia has confirmed that it is talking to Infosys of India and IBM and Cognizant of the US about relocating jobs to cheaper locations overseas.

The bank has warned US technology staff that the move will lead to redundancies.

In January, Wachovia projected savings of up to $1 billion during the next three years under plans to shed up to 4000 jobs.
