The SkyCard - which is also accepted at all MasterCard locations worldwide - has been developed to work in the interactive card slot on the Sky box for direct shopping via interactive TV.

The card is being launched to Sky's 7.6 million UK customers in conjunction with a loyalty scheme in which users earn SkyPoints for every pound spent. The points can be exchanged for pay-per-view programmes and digital subscription fees and qualify customers for participation in regular prize draws.

Peter Waugh, head of loyalty from Sky says: "Our research reveals that people want loyalty schemes that give them real benefits not just gimmicks. This is exactly what SkyCard provides.”

The Sky branded credit card has a 0% interest rate on purchases and balance transfers until 1 January 2006 and a typical rate of 16.9% APR variable.
