EDB Business Partner signs 16 savings banks to ATM smart card software

Nordic IT outfit EDB Business Partner has signed contracts valued at Nkr13 million with 16 savings banks for the supply of operating services and smart card functionality to their self-service kiosk and ATM networks.

Each of the banks has entered into a separate contract, and all the contracts run for two years.

Under the agreements, EDB Bank & Finance will supply an EMV-compliant system that receives card transaction information from the banks' ATMs and provides an interface to card networks and the banking system. EDB IT Operations will supply the operating services element of the contracts.

EDB Bank & Finance will book Nkr10 million of the total business volume from this latest batch of contracts, while EDB IT Operations will book Nkr3 million.

Ole Urdahl, executive vice president, EDB Bank & Finance, comments: "Nordea, Sparebank 1 and a number of independent banks have already signed up for similar solutions supplied by EDB. The banks that choose to use our solutions in this area are positioned to accept international smartcards."

The 16 savings banks are Sparebanken Hedmark, Sparebanken Rana, Sparebanken Sogn & Fjordane, Sparebanken Sør, Etne Sparebank, Flekkefjord Sparebank, Haugesund Sparebank, Hegra Sparebank, Kvinnherad Sparebank, Lillesand Sparebank, Luster Sparebank, Sauda Sparebank, Skudenes & Aakra Sparebank, Sparebanken Hardanger, Søgne & Greipstad Sparebank and Tingvoll Sparebank.
