UK-based Cox Insurance Holdings has signed a 10-year IT outsourcing contract, worth £138 million, with CGI Group.

CGI will provide provide Cox - one of the largest motor insurers in the UK - with IT services and support from its centre in Britain and from its offshore facilities in Canada and India.

The contract calls for CGI to manage Cox's entire IT infrastructure, providing applications management as well as support, maintenance and development. Under the agreement, more than 200 staff will transfer from Cox to CGI.

Commenting on the contract, Neil Utley, CEO of Cox Insurance Holdings, says: "Not only will it enable Cox to exploit technology to reduce the cost of its business processes, it will also improve service levels and flexibility and provide Cox with the advantage of having a single point of contact for all IT related issues."
