The new deal is an extension of an existing outsourcing agreement signed in 2001 and extends the contract until 2006.

Under the contract, CGI will continue to provide Caisse with infrastructure management, computer operating, call centre services, office technology support, business applications maintenance and solutions development and integration.

In addition, CGI will supply IT consultancy services, assessing and proposing software for the firm.

Daniel Huard, vice president, IT, Caisse, says: "The stability of CGI and its deep knowledge of our business and way of operating has resulted in our ability to optimise the management of our projects and infrastructure."

In a seperate deal, the vendor has announced a two-year extension to a ten-year IT outsourcing contract with National Bank of Canada originally signed with Cognicase in June 2000.

While the initial contract extended until June 2010, CGI's contract will last until June 2012 and is valued at approximately C$60 million per year. As part of this agreement, CGI is managing such functions as application maintenance and support as well as the development and support of new application projects.
