Denmark's PBS deploys Sterling Commerce platform

Danish payments processing firm Payment Business Services (PBS) is implementing Sterling Commerce's Web-based business integration system, Connect:Enterprise, to manage payments and data transfers to customers over the Internet.

The Sterling Commerce software replaces PBS' proprietary system, General Transport, which was used to process and transfer business and consumer payments electronically using x.25 and x.400 protocols.

Connect:Enterprise enables PBS to transfer data and files, such as payments and salary information, to customers via the Internet. The product enables PBS to offer customers a range of Internet connection methods, including HTTP/S, S/FTP and Connect:Direct Satellite.

Bent Overgaard Johansen, head of department, new business areas, PBS, says: "Connect:Enterprise allows us to meet our customers' demands for a safe, automated method of sharing various file types across the Internet. In addition, we were looking for a solution that can expand in accordance to our needs ensured by its flexibility, stability and interoperability."
