German mortgage bank employs Datakey to authenticate remote salesforce

German mortgage bank Bausparkasse Schwaebisch Hall is to use client software and smart cards from Minneapolis-based Datakey to ensure positive identification of its remote sales agents.

Christoph Geissler, project manager for Schwaebisch Hall - the second largest mortgage lender in Germany with six million customers - says the bank wanted to provide its remote salesforce with access to data while at the same time reassuring customers that their private information is protected.

"Datakey's ability to work with the all of the major VPNs, desktop computing environments and its demonstrated ease of use in an Entrust environment were key factors in the bank's selection process," he says.

Nuremnerg-based Schwaebisch Hall is the third member of a nine-company financial consortium to select Datakey as the exclusive provider for smart card-enabled authentication.
