FPL names new Japan and Apacs regional committee leaders

FIX Protocol Limited (FPL) is proud to announce that Carrie Cheung, Gen Utsumi and Marcus Consolini have assumed new positions of responsibility within the FPL Japan and Asia Pacific Regional Committees.

Carrie Cheung of Merrill Lynch and Gen Utsumi of NYFIX have been elected to serve as Co-Chairs of the Japan Regional Committee succeeding Satoru Mizukami of Morgan Stanley and Tomoyoshi Inose of Nomura Asset Management. In their new positions, Carrie and Gen are excited about organising the first Japan FPL Conference, which will be held this October.

Gen Utsumi currently serves as the Japan Country Manager for NYFIX and previously served as Co-Chair of the Japan Education & Marketing Subcommittee. Prior to his current tenure at NYFIX Mr. Utsumi worked in various positions at Reuters, Bridge Information Systems, and NEC.

In addition to working with the FPL Japan Regional Committee, Carrie Cheung currently holds the position of Client Connectivity Manager for Merrill Lynch Japan. Ms. Cheung has worked within Client Connectivity and Electronic Trading for Merrill Lynch for the past five years in various related roles, including a term as a project management within the Equity Technology department. Her previous experience includes positions held with Fidelity Investments Japan, ING Barings, and UBS Hong Kong.

Marcus Consolini of SWIFT has been appointed as Vice Chairman of the Asia Pacific Steering Committee. Mr. Consolini is a long time supporter of the FIX Protocol, having previously served as Co-Chair of the Asia Pacific Education & Marketing Subcommittee. Within this position, he will work closely with Grace Lin of Citigroup and George Molina of Franklin Templeton Investments, who serve as Co-Chairs of the Asia Pacific Regional Committee.

Marcus Consolini is the Global Head of Sales for SWIFT’s Pre-Trade and Trade Division, responsible for all commercial activity relating to the SWIFTNet FIX program and SWIFT’s initiatives in the Front Office. Prior to his current position, Mr. Consolini was the Regional Head of Sales within Asia Pacific for SWIFTNet FIX, and has held positions at Tigerex, American Express Consulting Services, and Deloitte & Touche. Mr. Consolini hopes that within this position he can assist in building upon the committee’s current success.

Earlier this year, FPL announced the re-elections of John Goeller of Lehman Brothers as Co-Chair of the Americas Regional Committee, Barry Marshall as Co-Chair of the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) Regional Committee, Jim Northey of Jordan & Jordan as Co-Chair of the Global Derivatives Committee, and Daniel Doscas of HSBC as Co-Chair of the Global Fixed Income Committee.
