TrueLayer, a leading provider of financial APIs, has appointed payments expert Max Emilson as Chief Revenue Officer to drive global sales and nurture current partnerships.

Prior to joining TrueLayer, Max spent eight years working for Klarna, helping grow the business from a local payment method in the Nordics to a well-known global brand. As Vice President of Channel Sales he created partnerships with major e-commerce players including Stripe, Shopify, and Adyen, and was part of the team that created an SME package to automate sales, boosting its scalability.

Max moved to SaaS company Wiraya as Chief Commercial Officer, where he focused on developing the commercial offering and building customer success, sales, and marketing teams across Europe.

Explaining what drew him to TrueLayer, Max Emilson said: “TrueLayer has a phenomenal working environment. The level of intellectual curiosity and motivation is unparalleled. But it’s not just about the culture; it’s the market - open Banking is starting to take off globally.”

“TrueLayer is the leading player in the most mature open banking market in the world. UK regulators, banks, fintechs and consumers have created a hotbed of innovation and a quality of services that show the rest of the world what is possible. This is a fantastic time to join.”

Francesco Simoneschi, CEO and founder of TrueLayer, said: “Max brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in the payments industry, which is a huge growth area for us this year. It’s an exciting time for us as fintechs are proving that the globalisation of Open Banking is accessible. As we expand internationally, we need a strong leadership team at the helm. Max will be instrumental in this transition.”
