first direct is launching two new ‘native’ Apps specifically designed and built inhouse for iOS and Android customers.

The Apps have been developed in conjunction with customer feedback and are now completely ‘native’ – meaning their look and feel follows the design standards of both operating systems and offers the best possible customer experience.

The Apps are now live on iOS and Android, available from the apple store and Google Play Store.

The native Apps build on recent functional enhancements to first direct’s mobile banking, such as the ability to create new beneficiaries on the go, and introduces other functional enhancements, including animated on-boarding for first time downloads, and a Balances/Transactions snapshot on the homepage.

This snapshot will show what’s changed since the last logon and customers’ last three transactions. 3D touch is also available to assist customers to quickly view transaction lists from the home page.

Pocket sized revolution

Joe Gordon, Head of first direct, said: “Our completely new native Apps will significantly improve customers’ mobile banking experience by providing smoother transitions and improved navigation, as well as adding lots of new functionality to make customers’ lives a lot easier.”

first direct was launched in 1989 as a telephone bank, but since then has led the way first in online, and then mobile banking.

Increased functionality and reduced complexity, have enabled first direct to replicate the customer experience through Mobile, and in 2016 mobile logins to internet banking overtook desktop logins for the first time. Last year first direct saw a staggering 43 million mobile app logins, and more than 84,000 first time logons.
