Cal Holman, a 20-year veteran of payment services for issuing and acquiring banks, has been named chief operating officer of TSYS Prepaid, Inc., effective immediately.

"From our clients' perspective, it's exciting to have someone of Cal's caliber and experience to serve TSYS in this crucial role," says M. Troy Woods, president and chief operating officer of TSYS. "Cal's record demonstrates a strong record of dynamic leadership and intimate knowledge of payments technologies for issuers and acquirers. It's an honor to announce his return to the TSYS family."

As COO, Mr. Holman's direct oversight of TSYS Prepaid will include management responsibility for customer service, information technology, product development, operations, human resources, finance and legal. Mr. Holman will report to Clifford B. Mason, group executive for integrated payments at TSYS.

Mr. Holman has worked more than 17 years in a range of technical leadership positions with TSYS and Vital Processing Services (previously a joint venture between TSYS and Visa U.S.A., Vital is now a wholly owned TSYS subsidiary). Mr. Holman was a critical player in TSYS milestones such as Bank of America's initial conversion to the TS2 payments engine and the implementation for AT&T Universal Card Services. At Vital, he significantly improved measures of operational quality and merged multiple legacy systems into a web-based delivery platform, among other achievements.

Before returning to TSYS this year, Mr. Holman also worked for Paymentech, the Tampa, Fla.-based developer of merchant-acquiring technologies, and for Salis, Inc., an Atlanta-based third-party processor of corporate sales and use tax.

Mr. Holman earned his bachelor's degree from the United States Military Academy in West Point, N.Y., and served in the U.S. Army for more than five years before he was honorably discharged as a captain. Mr. Holman earned his master's degree in business administration from Columbus State University in Columbus, Ga.
