Axioma, a leading provider of innovative risk solutions for buy-side institutions, today announced that Sunil Rajan has joined the company as Managing Director for EMEA.
Rajan joins from Standard & Poor's where he was Senior Director and Head of Sales for EMEA Risk Solutions. Over the last 20 years he has also held senior positions in Europe and the Middle East for firms including Thomson Reuters, Algorithmics and Misys.
“Axioma’s growth is accelerating and our ability to attract industry veterans of Sunil’s calibre speaks to the distinct advantages that our innovative risk solutions deliver to our clients,” said Sebastian Ceria, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Axioma. “Axioma now counts four of the top five largest global asset managers among its clients and we are adding personnel and resources to support continued innovation and service worldwide.”
Commenting on his appointment, Rajan said: "Investment managers want the best risk-management solutions supported by robust quantitative research and the latest innovation. Axioma leads the way in delivering this, so it's an exciting time for me to join the business."
Rajan succeeds Ian Webster, who has taken on an expanded role as Chief of Staff, with overall responsibility for Axioma’s operations globally.
Axioma also announced the following senior appointments to support the firm's expansion in EMEA:
• Nicolas Rossignol, Managing Director, will lead the development of Axioma’s business in French-speaking Europe, based in the recently opened Paris office. Nicolas was previously co-founder and director of the consultancy Beyond Risk, helping French asset managers and institutional investors to choose and implement risk and performance attribution solutions. Nicolas also held positions at BARRA and Societe Generale Asset Management (SGAM).
• Dr. Adrian Zymolka, Managing Director, will lead the development of Axioma’s business in Germany, based in Axioma’s new Frankfurt office. He was previously a research assistant at the Zuse Institute Berlin in the Optimization Department.
"The business opportunity for Axioma in Europe is substantial,” said Rajan. “Expanding Axioma’s senior teams in Paris and Frankfurt will allow us to help more clients to construct better investment strategies, improve their risk-management processes and enhance performance."
