ID Data appoints Julian Wheatland non-executive director

ID Data plc, the provider of secure, card-based transaction systems and services to the international banking, retail, government and secure access sectors, announces the appointment of Mr Julian Wheatland as a non-executive Director of the Company with immediate effect.

Julian David Wheatland, aged 44, is currently Chief Executive of Consensus Community, the venture capital management and non-property investment management arm of Consensus Business Group, which manages various investments on behalf of Investec Trust (Guernsey) Limited as trustees of the Tchenguiz Family Trust.

Consensus Community develops and manages innovative business concepts which radically change traditional models of business. Consensus Business Group, which is managed by Vincent Tchenguiz, as agent for the Trust, is also responsible for a number of residential and commercial property interests including approximately 200,000 ground rents within the United Kingdom, interests in residential estate agents, commercial and residential property managers and a commercial property portfolio with gross assets of approximately £4 billion.

Mr Wheatland is a Chartered Engineer, having graduated in electrical and electronic engineering from The University of Leeds and gained an MBA from The Wharton School. Julian spent his early career working for BICC Cables where he held a variety of posts, culminating in his responsibility for its largest manufacturing unit in Wrexham.

Julian was subsequently a Managing Consultant in the strategy practice of PA Consulting before founding Edengene, one of the UK's leading growth and innovation consultancies.
