Yesterday, Banco Santander´s Board of Directors agreed to the appointment of J. Peter Jackson as new head of the Group´s Innovation area.
This appointment is subject to the customary regulatory approvals.
Peter Jackson brings extensive experience and knowledge of the financial industry to the role. He was CEO of the Travelex Group, where he led a major process to transform the company, focused on digital innovation and business re-engineering, and through mergers and acquisitions. Previously, he held senior positions at Lloyds and Halifax Bank of Scotland, and was a consultant at McKinsey & Company. Peter graduated in Engineering from the University of Cambridge.
Jackson substitutes José María Fuster who, after more than 30 years with the Santander Group, will continue connected to the bank as an external advisor. Fuster has made a substantial contribution to the modernization of the Group´s technological platforms and has helped position Santander as one of the most efficient entities in the world.
One year ago, the bank created the corporate Innovation area, to research and anticipate market trends, and design business and customer solutions from a global, disruptive and long-term perspective. The innovation area includes Openbank, the Group´s online bank in Spain.
