Liquidnet appoints quants head for Asia Pacific

Liquidnet, the global institutional trading network, today announced that Tony Cheung has joined the company as Head of Quantitative Analytics.

Tony is based in Hong Kong and will be responsible for leading this area for Liquidnet in Asia Pacific.

Tony will report to the Head of Asia Pacific, Lee Porter, and to Head of Quantitative Sales and Analytics, Akis Georgiou, who is based in New York. His position will focus on providing Liquidnet’s buy-side members with insight and analysis on their trades, drawing on the firm’s enhanced capabilities in data and analytics.

“The appointment of Tony to the Liquidnet team in Asia Pacific is another significant step for our growth in the region, which will provide our Members with a new level of analytics and insight to support best execution, as well as commentary on market micro structure evolution,” said Porter.

Tony brings to the role his extensive industry experience, including performance analysis and reporting. He joins Liquidnet from BNP Paribas in Hong Kong where he was the Head of Product Management for Electronic Trading. Prior to that, Tony worked at Royal Bank of Canada in New York, designing and deploying algorithms and analytical tools.

In addition, Tony has also held positons at CIBC and IBM. Tony holds a Masters of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Engineering Science from the University of Toronto.

Tony joined Liquidnet on September 2.
