London Stock Exchange names Donald Bryden as new chairman

London Stock Exchange Group (the “Group”) today announces that Donald Brydon CBE has been appointed as the Group’s new Chairman.

Following the announcement in 2014 that Dr Chris Gibson‐Smith, after 12 years as
Chairman, would retire from the Board in 2015 once a successor had been found, Donald Brydon joins the Board with immediate effect and becomes Chairman, effective 1 July 2015. Dr Gibson-Smith will step down from the Board on 1 July, but will remain available to advise the Board until 31 August 2015.

Chris Gibson‐Smith said: “I am delighted that Donald will be joining the Board of London Stock Exchange Group, and succeeding me as Chairman. His significant board experience, knowledge of our dynamic industry and his personal qualities will be invaluable to the ambitious, competitive, global Group that our business has now become.

“It has been an honour and a pleasure to have been Chairman of London Stock Exchange Group at such a pivotal time in its long and esteemed history. The Group has transformed, to become an international market infrastructure organisation, defined by its partnership approach, its clear and focused strategy and its growth. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with so many talented people within the business, and I shall look forward to continue to watch the Group on its journey, under Donald’s stewardship”.
