LME appoints John Lee as chief technology officer

The London Metal Exchange (LME) is pleased to announce the appointment of John Lee as Chief Technology Officer.

John has 22 years of technology experience within financial exchanges, along with extensive leadership and systems delivery expertise. He joins from ICE/ NYSE Euronext where he most recently led the technology delivery for a new clearing house for LIFFE. Following ICE’s acquisition of NYSE Euronext, John’s responsibility switched to the integration of the LIFFE market with ICE Clear Europe, which was successfully launched in July 2013.

John previously held senior technology positions at NYSE Euronext and LIFFE over a period of 20 years, with responsibilities ranging from global IT project management to the delivery of complex derivative trading and clearing systems. He was also the Chief Information Officer for PayPoint PLC from 2005 to 2008, where he managed IT delivery and technology integration for three mergers and acquisitions.

John will join the LME’s Executive Committee, and will report to Garry Jones. His appointment is effective from 26 January 2015.
