CalPers appoints Liana Bailey-Crimmins CIO, ITSB

The California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) has named Liana Bailey-Crimmins as its Chief Information Officer (CIO) of the recently reorganized Information Technology Services Branch (ITSB).

She will begin her new role at CalPERS on August 5.

Bailey-Crimmins brings with her 24 years of State of California executive and information technology (IT) experience. She has held top IT leadership positions with California Correctional Health Care Services within the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation where she delivered projects under budget and ahead of schedule. Bailey-Crimmins will report to Deputy Executive Officer of Operations and Technology, Doug Hoffner.

"Our CIO will lead the effort to support and sustain our my|CalPERS system," said Hoffner. "Liana's extensive experience solving complex business problems by focusing on technology services will ensure CalPERS continues to use our own technology systems with the greatest efficiency and accuracy.

"As CIO, Bailey-Crimmins will provide executive direction and oversight to the six divisions in her branch that encompass every aspect of IT productivity. She will play a critical role in setting strategic IT direction and policies that align with the enterprise business goals while mitigating technological risk."

Bailey-Crimmins studied computer science at California State University, Sacramento and is an Information Technology Manager's Academy graduate.

CalPERS, with assets of approximately $263 billion, is the largest public pension fund in the U.S. It administers retirement benefits for more than 1.6 million California state, local government, and public school employees, retirees and their families on behalf of more than 3,000 public employers, and health benefits for more than 1.3 million enrollees.
