Panopticon Software, the leading provider of visual data discovery and analysis software for real-time, CEP and historical time series data, today announced that Tony Evans has joined the company in the newly created role of Chief Operating Officer.

Evans will head the growing Panopticon sales and marketing group and work directly and will be part of the company's executive management team. Evans will be based in the company's expanded New York office.

Evans was most recently with SAP where he held two senior positions: Vice President, Analytics and Regional Vice President of SAP's Big Data, Analytics and Predictive business, with a focus on Financial Services, including Banking, Capital Markets, Insurance, and Exchanges. Before his tenure at SAP, Evans was Regional Sales Manager for Oracle where he was responsible for managing Oracle's Business Intelligence and Analytics business for the US Eastern Region.

Panopticon was recently identified as a Gartner Cool Vendor for In-Memory Computing (April 23, 2013 report by Gartner, Inc., co-authored by Roy Schulte, Roxane Edjlali, et al.) and is also on the CRN Big Data 100, which recognizes innovative companies with products and services that have significantly enhanced Big Data management and analysis. Panopticon's unique data visualization software allows users to analyze streaming data feeds coming in from external message buses as well as historical time series.

Willem De Geer, Panopticon's Managing Director, said, "Tony knows our customers, understands the importance of our partners and has the experience needed to help lead Panopticon's next chapter of global growth, especially in Capital Markets but also in our other key target markets. We grew a lot in 2012 and we are breaking records again this year and I'm excited to have a man of his caliber join us as we move into the next phase of development for the company."

Evans stated, "I've been aware of many of Panopticon's deployments in major banks, asset managers and hedge funds for some time. There is a massive shift in the financial industry away from batch-based reporting systems towards real time, in-memory computing solutions for monitoring trading activity, performing pre- and post-trade analytics, and managing risk. Panopticon is uniquely positioned as the only supplier of truly real-time data visualization tools and the company is well on the way to becoming the de facto standard visual analysis tool in across a range of industries, including energy and telecoms as well as Capital Markets."

Evans is certified by the Project Management Institute (PMI) as a Project Management Professional. He holds an MBA from the University of Brighton with a concentration in Change Management, MIS, Marketing, and Sales Strategy and a Bachelors degree and Certificate in Marketing from Staffordshire University.
