Capital markets technology and operations consultancy Catalyst Development has extended the capability of its Clearing team with the appointment of Sandy McFadzean.
Sandy brings to Catalyst a broad understanding of risk and clearing from a bank and clearing house perspective. He will be responsible for refining and developing clearing-related propositions, and delivering value for Catalyst's growing list of clients in this area.
Sandy joins Catalyst from Deloitte Consulting, where he was a consulting manager in the capital markets practice. There he focused on business strategy and change projects relating to OTC derivatives trade lifecycle, clearing, risk management and regulation.
Examples of his project experience include leading risk workstreams on a major fixed income target operating model programme for a tier 1 investment bank, and supporting strategy and plan development for a global clearing house in creating a collateral and liquidity management service. He has also conducted feasibility studies for investment banks considering their options under EMIR mandated OTC clearing.
Prior to joining Deloitte, Sandy worked for Morgan Stanley as Senior Manager in Fixed Income Operations, responsible for implementing organisational change and line management of front office support teams in the credit trading business.
Catalyst's Managing Director Matt Parkinson said: "Sandy will be a huge asset to us, working with clients that are in the process of developing OTC derivatives clearing services. He has incredible drive and passion for helping clients get to the bottom of the problems they face, and find solutions. The 'big picture view' he has gained through his career enables him to contribute thought leadership on developing positions and propositions around the rapidly changing regulatory environment for OTC derivatives."
