Mr Böcker joined SGX on 1 December 2009. His initial contract of service was for three years and will be replaced with a new contract effective 1 July 2012.

The Board takes this opportunity to thank Mr Böcker and his team for the sound performance of SGX in the past two and a half years. The management team has raised SGX's profile and standing among international exchanges, expanded its suite of offerings with innovative products, sustained its vigilance over investors' interests, and delivered dependable dividends to shareholders.

"Given that the tensions and anxieties that have weakened global financial markets are likely to persist for some time yet, we are appreciative that Magnus has signed on for another term in office. He will provide known leadership for the SGX organization in the uncertain times ahead," said Mr Chew Choon Seng, Chairman of SGX.
