Catena Technologies Pte Ltd, an Asia-based financial technology consultancy, today announced its appointment of Aaron Hallmark as head of its Trading and Risk Management Solutions practice.

This move strengthens the company's ability to deliver services related to over-the-counter (OTC) derivative products and risk management platforms.

"There is a need for people in Asia who understand the complex business requirements of trading and risk management systems and have the technological depth to create effective solutions", said Randall E. Duran, CEO of Catena Technologies. "We see a growing opportunity to serve customers in these areas, and we are very pleased to have an industry veteran joining our team. Aaron's knowledge and experience working with banks and exchanges in the region is invaluable."

Since the global financial crisis, financial institutions in Asia have faced a flood of regulatory and market changes, including central clearing of OTC derivatives, increased capital requirements, innovations in credit and collateral pricing of transactions, and increasing risk of sovereign downgrades. These new trends present financial firms with both new business opportunities and new market and operational risks that must be managed. Traversing this new landscape while effectively managing costs requires financial institutions to adopt new technologies.

"I am very excited to be joining Catena and see a great opportunity to extend the company's ability to provide solutions related to trading and risk management technology," said Hallmark. "Catena's unique combination of financial market focus and cutting-edge technology expertise puts it in a strong position to help lead Asian financial firms through this time of change. I look forward to applying my experience in a new role and enhancing the skills of Catena's Trading and Risk Management Solutions practice."

Prior to joining Catena Technologies, Mr. Hallmark spent more than nine years with Calypso Technology, a global financial software and services company focused on cross-asset trading, risk management, and processing. At Calypso, Aaron initially managed the Professional Services team for the Americas, based in New York, and then moved to Singapore to serve as regional Director of Professional Services for Asia. Prior to Calypso, he has held positions at several U.S.-based technology companies, including Infinity Financial Technology, Microsoft, and the Stanford Research Institute. Mr. Hallmark obtained an MBA from the University of Southern California's Marshall School of Business and a B.S. in Artificial Intelligence from Stanford University.
