JCB International names Takao Kawanishi chairman and CEO

JCB International Co., Ltd. (JCBI) a wholly owned subsidiary of JCB Co., Ltd. today announced the appointment of Takao Kawanishi as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at its shareholders' meeting in Tokyo with immediate effect.

Mr. Kawanishi, who served as Vice Chairman of JCBI since June 2010, succeeds Tamio Takakura. Mr. Takakura, who held the position of JCB's Chairman and JCBI's Chairman and CEO is retiring after 9 years of dedication to the growth of JCB's presence worldwide and having made substantial contributions to expand its wide-ranging business in the payment industry.

Mr. Kawanishi, who has also served as President and CEO of JCB since June 2010, joined JCB in an advisory capacity in May 2010. He has in-depth expertise and broad experience gained in his 39 years in the banking industry, starting with the Sanwa Bank, Limited, followed by UFJ Holdings, Inc., UFJ Bank, Ltd., and the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Ltd. Before joining JCB, Mr. Kawanishi held a number of senior management roles at the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Ltd., including Managing Director, Senior Managing Director and Deputy President.

Under the leadership of the strong management team including Mr. Kawanishi, Mr. Sannomiya, President and Chief Operating Officer, JCBI, and Kimihisa Imada, Deputy President, JCBI together with JCB Co., Ltd., continues to strengthen the JCB cardmember base and card acceptance globally by enhancing alliances with partner banks, corporations and other institutions worldwide.
