MasterCard Worldwide announced the appointment of Edward Glassman as Group Executive of Global Commercial Products, effective immediately.

Glassman is responsible for leading the global development and commercialization of MasterCard's innovative commercial products and solutions that serve small business, mid- and large market organizations and public sector institutions.

"We are very excited to welcome Ed to MasterCard. He brings a deep understanding of commercial payments and extensive experience in building and growing global business-to-business products and services," said Tim Murphy, chief product officer, MasterCard Worldwide. "At MasterCard, we have a suite of industry-leading commercial payments offerings and a strong focus on delivering solutions that address B2B opportunities for issuers and help commercial organizations optimize spend and maximize the benefits of electronic payments. Ed's experience in driving the transformational growth of some of the most successful Global Transaction Services (GTS) businesses in our industry will be invaluable."

Glassman, 51, joins MasterCard after a successful career in banking and technology. Previously, he held senior roles at RBS, ABN AMRO and Citibank, leading both global commercial product and technology teams. He served as Chief Information Officer for the GTS businesses at RBS and ABN AMRO. Prior to ABN AMRO, Glassman led the Commercial Cards platform at Citibank, later heading Global Product Development for GTS -- including the development and deployment of CitiDirect across the world. Earlier in his career, Glassman spent 12 years at IBM consulting on new and emerging technologies and their effect on business strategies and operations.

Glassman holds a BS and MS from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
