New York Life Investment Management LLC (NYLIM) today announced the appointment of William Gibson, 52, as senior managing director of technology and operations.
In this newly created role, Mr. Gibson will be leading and coordinating the technology, operations and infrastructure needs of NYLIM. He will report to Brian A. Murdock, president of NYLIM.
"Will brings to NYLIM a wealth of experience in the key areas of operations and technology," noted Mr. Murdock. "His focus and expertise will enable us to enhance both process efficiency and operating leverage, and allow the firm to better integrate the diverse parts of its business."
Prior to joining NYLIM, Mr. Gibson was global chief operating officer for ING Investment Management (INGIM) based in The Hague, The Netherlands. At INGIM, he was responsible for operations, IT, finance, compliance, and risk management activities across 26 countries. In addition to this role, Mr. Gibson was also general manager of operations and information technology at ING, where he helped create a joint venture providing fund administration and custody services in Europe.
Mr. Gibson has also held senior executive positions at a number of top tier financial services firms including Merrill Lynch, Barclays Capital, Security Pacific, and American Express. He received an M.B.A. in Finance, and an M.P.A. in Marketing, from the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University in 1976. He earned a B.A. in Political Philosophy from Michigan State University in 1973.
