Rimes Technologies, the award-winning provider of market data and performance solutions for the buy-side, announced today the appointment of John Farris as head of sales, North American markets.

John, whose career in financial markets spans 20 years, will bring a wealth of leadership, sales and business development experience to RIMES. Prior to joining RIMES, John was head of relationship management for the portfolio and index services division of Standard & Poor's, one of the leading providers of credit ratings, indices, investment research, risk evaluation and data. During his 12-year tenure at Standard & Poor's, John also held business development and leadership roles within investment advisory services, the banking & insurance and third party partnerships divisions.

Most recently, John was at Brandywine Global Investment Management, a subsidiary of Legg Mason, leading their market and business development efforts and managing their existing client base within their quantitative equity group. John also held roles at CoreStates, now part of Wells Fargo, and the Philadelphia Stock Exchange, now part of The NASDAQ OMX Group.

John holds a BA in Computer Sciences from LaSalle University and an MBA from LaSalle University Graduate School, both in Philadelphia; he is member of the CFA Institute and Investment Management Consultant Association.

John will be responsible for defining and executing the North American sales strategy for RIMES Desktop, RIMES SmartFiles and the recently launched Barra Performance on RIMES services, driving business growth in the region and reporting directly to the board.

"We are very pleased to have John joining us", said Jean Edouard van Praet, senior partner at RIMES. "As institutions continuously strive to optimize their market data costs while maintaining high data quality standards, RIMES can fulfill these requirements with a cost-effective and highly customized data integration solution providing access to 300-plus premier data sources. I am confident that RIMES will benefit from John's extensive business development and relationship management expertise."
