Kx Systems, the leader in high-performance database and timeseries analysis, has opened an Asian office to be headed by Chris Burke.

Chris has many years' experience in IT, where his primary focus has been on financial and mathematical programming in the banking and insurance sectors. He started at IP Sharp Associates, working in Toronto and Zurich on financial databases and global risk management systems. At Benetech, Ernst and Young, he led the development of pricing and valuation systems for the Canadian banks' credit card and personal services divisions. Later he formed Strand Software, providing consultancy and development to financial clients worldwide, working on treasury, compliance reporting, risk management and budgeting systems. He is a partner in Jsoftware and one of the principal developers of the Jsoftware programming system. Chris has been based in Asia for the last 8 years, and in Hong Kong since 2004.

Chris says: "I have been familiar with Kx for some years, and am excited to join the team and become more deeply involved with Kx technology. I look forward to helping to build Kx's Asian base."

Janet Lustgarten, CEO of Kx, comments: "Chris's broad experience in financial markets and knowledge of Kx makes him ideally suited to lead our expansion into Asia. We have already made good progress with our partnership with Hologram; Chris's Hong Kong base gives us a direct presence in that part of Asia and will also help to support Hologram's activities. I am very happy to welcome Chris to the Kx team."
