The Multos Consortium today announces the election of Mr. Dave Meadon, Head of Chip Solutions Deployment at MasterCard Worldwide, to the position of Chairman of the Consortium Council.

Mr Meadon's nomination was unanimously sanctioned at the Consortium Council's recent meeting in Singapore. As Chairman, Mr Meadon will oversee the direction and development priorities for the MULTOS platform on behalf of the Consortium's membership.

This appointment is made in the year that MULTOS celebrates its 10th anniversary. With a focus on interoperability, security and performance, MULTOS has established itself as a robust multi-application platform offering for customers in both the private and public sectors. MULTOS recently reached the significant milestone of 100 million cards issued in over 32 countries.

Dave Meadon of MasterCard Worldwide said: "This is an exciting time for MULTOS and its stakeholders and I am delighted to be elected as the new Chairman. I look forward to working within the Consortium to build on MULTOS's excellent foundations and to ensure the product evolves to address significant, emerging opportunities in both the payments industry and other markets."

Alan Johnson of The MULTOS Consortium said "Over the last 10 years MasterCard Worldwide has provided leadership and vision for the development of a technology that has become the foremost platform for multi-application, high-security payment cards and identification tokens. Dave had been a key contributor throughout this period and I very much welcome his appointment to lead the next chapter of MULTOS's evolution."
