Barclaycard US names Barney Briggs CFO

Barney C. Briggs has been appointed Chief Financial Officer of Barclaycard US, the credit card business of Barclays Bank PLC in the United States.

In this role, Mr. Briggs will oversee the entire scope of financial performance and management, including financial plan development, financial reporting, financial control, accounting, treasury and audit. He will report to Lloyd M. Wirshba, Chief Executive Offer and will serve on the Barclaycard US Executive Leadership Team.

Mr. Briggs comes to Barclaycard from Citigroup where he most recently served as Senior Vice President and Senior Director of the American Airlines AAdvantage business. Prior to that position, Mr. Briggs served as CFO of Citi's Travel & Business Strategic Unit. He was also Vice President of Citi's Private Label Oil Planning & Control unit.

"His experience, including the management of partner card payment programs, makes him an outstanding addition to our executive team as our business continues to experience enormous growth."

Prior to his experience at Citigroup, Mr. Briggs worked at NationsCredit where he served as Vice President of Planning and Control for 300 consumer branch locations and served as Corporate Information Services Controller. He also worked at Lomas Mortgage USA in finance.

Mr. Briggs holds a bachelor's degree in finance from Texas State University (formerly Southwest Texas State University).
