Tuxedo Money Solutions, the UK's leading prepaid card provider, has announced the appointment of Peter van Dijk to join its board as a non executive director.

Van Dijk, 39, is CEO of Mobility Commerce Services ("Mcom"), a division of VolkerWessels. Mcom delivers contactless payment and e-ticketing services to service providers in the traffic and transportation and entertainment and retail domains.

Tuxedo Money Solutions has appointed Van Dijk to capitalise on his experience in the mobile and communications sector.

He was previously Director of Vialis (also owned by VolkerWessels), which specialise in Traffic, Railway and Public Transport systems.

Since 2002 Van Dijk has also been an executive member (COO) of the Board of East-West e-ticketing bv East-West (Thales and Vialis) which is responsible for the nationwide implementation of the Public Transport e-ticketing system in Holland.

Van Dijk, a Dutch national, graduated with a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (Control Systems Lab) from the Technical University of Delft, Holland.

His addition reflects the growing success of Tuxedo which has seen a number of other key players join the board, including Gary Palmer, who earned the nickname of the "King of Prepaid" after becoming one of the biggest names in the US prepaid market.

In December, the company announced it had raised £8.5 million in funds to boost its customer service operation and technology systems. This included £5million of the total from the management of its company, and £3.5million from Dutch company Reggeborgh Group.
