PayPal today announced the official grand opening of its new technology center in Austin, Texas, PayPal Data Services.

PayPal Data Services is a wholly-owned subsidiary of PayPal, employing technology and engineering professionals who are helping to build PayPal's global payment platform. PayPal plans to hire hundreds of talented local professionals in the next three years, and is now accepting resumes for technical positions.

"PayPal Data Services' decision to bring hundreds of high-quality jobs to the Austin area is another testament to Texas' outstanding workforce, quality of life and business climate," said Governor Rick Perry. "I'm pleased that, in addition to the six and half million registered eBay users in this state, Texas is now the home of a major PayPal Data Services office and many good, high paying jobs."

"PayPal Data Services is a perfect fit for Austin and we are proud to welcome such a successful and innovative company as our newest corporate citizen to our community and to the Chamber of Commerce," said Dave Porter, Senior Vice President of Economic Development at the Austin Chamber of Commerce. "Since Austin is such a great place to live and work, it makes it an excellent home for PayPal. And, PayPal furthers our momentum behind Opportunity Austin, the Chamber's initiative to create new jobs."

"Williamson County continues to benefit from strong state and local leadership to improve our education and transportation systems, keep taxes low and preserve quality of life that attract major employers like PayPal Data Services," said Rep. Mike Krusee. "Today's PayPal office grand opening sends a strong message that Central Texas is one of the best places in the world to get and grow a skilled workforce."

"PayPal is strongly committed to the Austin community, and we're looking forward to building a long-term relationship with the city," said Terence Spielman, director and general manager of PayPal Data Services. "We firmly believe the strong pool of talented technology professionals here in Austin will help expand the backbone of PayPal services to ensure that businesses and individuals can make secure online payments anytime and anywhere."
