Refinski will continue to report directly to Metavante Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Michael D. Hayford.
"Gary has been with the company for 24 years and his extensive knowledge of Metavante products and customers will help ensure that consistencies are demonstrated within our operating systems and across all divisions and business units as we continue to grow," said Hayford.
Refinski began his career with Metavante in 1983 as a development programmer and has held a variety of management positions both in development and sales support during his tenure. In his new role, he will continue his existing responsibilities of overseeing Consulting and Implementations Services, Integration, Lending Solutions and the Risk and Compliance Solutions division. As Metavante CIO, Refinski succeeds Brian Hurdis, who was promoted to president of the Metavante Image Solutions division in March 2007.
Metavante also announced that Senior Vice President Dave Fortney, 43, has been named chief technology officer (CTO) of Metavante. Reporting to Refinski, Fortney will provide leadership for Metavante's technology direction and also lead the Technology Committee.
"This strengthening of our technology leadership is critical for Metavante to maintain and extend our product development leadership," said Hayford. "Our ability to deliver innovative, high quality and timely product development is critical to our success in the market."
Fortney joined the company in 2002 and has served as senior vice president and division executive of Electronic Presentment and Payment since 2003. Prior to joining Metavante, Fortney served as executive vice president and CTO of Paytrust, an online bill management company acquired by Metavante in 2002.
Fortney assumes the CTO position previously held by Senior Vice President Jim Dempster, who will continue to serve as Metavante's chief software architect. In this role Dempster, a Metavante veteran of 32 years, will lead the architecture and design of Metavante's core banking solutions, including the company's recently-announced initiative to build an advanced core banking platform for the United States.
