Mr. Dieu has worked in the field of smart cards since his career began in 1977. Following positions at DataCard France and Axycartes, he joined Oberthur Card Systems in the early 1990's, where he last served as head of the French Activities Department in the company's Finance and ID Division.

In October 2006, G&D set up shop in Paris for the chief purpose of offering its end-to-end smart card solutions to the French banking and telecommunications markets. Over the past few years, a number of French financial institutions and wireless operators have evolved into multinational corporations. Giesecke & Devrient's Parisian subsidiary is intended to provide those global players with suitable international and, at the same time, local service and support in their home country. The next step for the new G&D affiliate will be to integrate smart card-based solutions for industry and local administration into its portfolio.
