E*Trade names Nicholas Utton chief marketing officer

E*Trade Financial Corporation (NYSE: ET) today announced the appointment of Nicholas A. Utton to the position of Chief Marketing Officer (CMO).

Best known for spearheading the launch and global rollout of MasterCard International's renowned "Priceless" ad campaign, Mr. Utton will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Company's marketing, including advertising, direct mail and branding campaigns for the Brokerage and Banking lines of business. Mr. Utton replaces Pamela Kramer, former CMO of the Company who resigned in April 2004.

Jarrett Lilien, president and chief operating officer of E*TRADE FINANCIAL. "Mr. Utton has built his career on understanding consumer behavior. At a time when the financial services consumer is evolving, we are excited to tap this experience to further advance our marketing initiatives."

Mr. Utton comes to E*TRADE FINANCIAL with over 24 years of product management and consumer brand marketing experience, with a proven track record of driving sales and profit growth. He most recently served as executive vice president at JP Morgan Chase where he oversaw consumer and business marketing for Chase Financial Services, a $15 billion consumer division of JPMC.

In addition, Mr. Utton has held senior management positions with such leading consumer brands as Unilever, Bristol Myers Squibb, Revlon International, Cadbury Schweppes and MasterCard International. Mr. Utton holds a bachelor's degree in business administration and marketing from University of Natal (South Africa), and a graduate degree (honors) in business economics from University of South Africa, Pretoria.
