Fifth Third appoints Citigroup's Raymond Dury CIO

Fifth Third Bancorp (NASDAQ:FITB) today announced that it has hired Raymond C. Dury as chief information officer (CIO). Dury will begin his post at Fifth Third on November 13.

As CIO, Dury will be responsible for leading the Bank's technological processes, systems developments and e-commerce solutions.

Dury, 46, comes to Fifth Third with 20 years of experience in senior and executive management roles in operations and information technology. Most recently, he was managing director, Citigroup Technology Infrastructure, where he led the North American Technology Infrastructure Group including core technology systems, data centers, operations, network and voice services, project office and business services.

"We have made significant investments in technology and people over the past few years in order to improve the overall experience of our customers," said Kevin T. Kabat, president of Fifth Third Bancorp. "The hiring of Raymond is the next step in developing a world-class IT operation."

Dury, a New York City native, is excited about joining the Fifth Third team. "Fifth Third's strong commitment to its customers and investment in technology creates a firm foundation on which to build," he explained. "With a solid business partnership and innovative solutions, we will develop the next generation of technology leadership for our customers," said Dury.

As chief information officer, Dury will report to Greg Carmichael, chief operating officer (COO) for Fifth Third Bancorp. Carmichael held that position prior to his recent promotion to COO. "Raymond is excited about our vision and what we have accomplished thus far, and I am confident that he is the right person to take us to that next level," stated Carmichael.

Prior to his position at Citigroup, Dury was managing director and chief technology officer at Barclays Capital in London. He previously was chief information officer at Ameritrade Holding Corporation and before that a managing consultant with Deloitte Consulting.

Dury has a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Franklin University. He is the current advisory board chairman of the CIO Forum and is a past recipient of that organization's Financial Services Executive award and Salomon Smith Barney's CIO of the Year award. Dury is the father of two, son Matthew, and daughter Elizabeth.
