Michael Gordon, Chief Investment Officer of Fidelity International, says: "Our intention is to build a UK equity investment management team in Edinburgh. Our plans to open an office in the city are testimony to Edinburgh’s status as a financial centre. Fidelity hopes, over time, to contribute to the continued growth of the city’s deep pool of investment talent."

Gordon continues, "Fidelity has spent the past three decades building a UK equity investment capability in London and this move marks a natural extension of our policy of decentralising investment management. We routinely set up smaller groups of investment professionals to foster greater independence and to encourage more creativity. In addition, an office in Scotland will bring us closer to our many clients and their advisers in the country."
